In March of 2008 the New York Attorney General, Andrew Mario Cuomo, announced a set of policies promulgated by Fannie Mae® and Freddie Mac, called the Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC). Weather the policies of this document is fully implemented is yet to be determined. However, it has become evident that mortgage loan investors and regulators will be requiring a greater independence between the loan origination departments and the appraiser.
